Spyderco is an American company based in Golden, Colorado, U.S.A. It was founded by Sal Glesser in 1978 and started as a company selling knife sharpeners. It has gone on to be a very influential producer of folding and fixed blade knives, EDC gear, kitchen cutlery and more.
The company has created and promoted innovations like the pocket clip for folding knives, the Compression lock, and the Spyderhole which allows for easy one handed opening.
Spyderco has production facilities in the United States of America, Taiwan, Japan, China and Italy.
They often work with well known knife makers and designers from around the world. Some of the knife makers have included Fred Perrin, Peter Rassenti, Bob Lum, Ernest Emerson, Peter Carrey, Bill Moran, Brian Tighe, and many more.
Byrd Knives by Spyderco is their budget line of folding knives for everyday carry producing affordable folders made in China.
