I’ve started creating a few social media accounts for the Directness.com website lately. I’m still finding my way around some of them but I’m a quick learner.
Just for something different, I’ll rank them by the amount of subscribers or followers that they have. It’s probably an indication of how much I post on the platform or at least how new it is to me.
I’ll update the rankings each month if there’s any changes. Currently Twitter is at the top because I started that months ago now. Instagram is second only because I’ve just used my knife store Instagram account. I may or may not be re-opening my knife store in the future. We shall see.
Eventually when I figure out how to make proper EDC videos I would like to see Youtube at the top of this list.

I started posting here more than a few months ago now so there’s naturally more followers. There’s not a whole lot of EDC and folding knife action on Twitter compared to say Instagram. Instagram seems to be the favored social media platform for knife lovers but there’s a few really cool active people on Twitter too. So I think it’s worth being on there if you’re into EDC gear and related topics.
I post everyday carry gear and knife pictures on Twitter most days. I also share a lot of other posts by cool people that I follow.
My issue with Twitter is it feels like my posts just disappear into the ether sometimes. For it to be truly useful you probably have to post several times each day but all I can manage for now is one post per day and maybe a couple of shares.
Check me out here. Follow me and I’ll probably follow you back if you’re posting EDC gear, watches, knives, pens, flashlights or man bling of some description.

I couldn’t create a new Instagram account as I kept getting errors and their help desk didn’t help. So I’m using my old knife shop account on Instagram. I wasn’t very active on it as I disliked mobile phones much more back then, but there’s about 300 subscribers currently. I’m hoping that number will grow radically over the coming months as I’ll be much more active on it.
I expect the Instagram account to quickly overtake the Twitter account as there’s so many more EDC and knife guys on Instagram.
So if you look at my older pictures on this Instagram account you’ll see my old knife shop logos on them. It was Australian based, as was I, but I’m currently in Istanbul, Turkey and I have been since the start of 2019. I was meant to come over here for a couple months break but nine months later I’m still here. Directness.com is a way for me to continue sharing my love for all things sharp and EDC.
Check me out on Instagram here.

Another unlikely social media platform that I seem to use quite a bit is Pinterest. It’s known to be inhabited by mostly women posting recipes, fashion, gardening ideas, and cats! But it’s also a cool place to check out EDC gear and knives believe it or not. You follow which people and boards you want, so if you’re following a whole bunch of people posting things that you’re into then it’s a great place. Again I wouldn’t say there’s as many people sharing knives and man bling as there are on Instagram, but there’s more than enough to fill your news feed each day.
I quite like Pinterest actually as it’s all about the pictures and you’re not forced to use your cell phone like you are with Instagram. It’s something that has always bothered me with Instagram as I don’t really like phones. I’m kinda forced to use them so I do.
So check out my Pinterest account and have a look at the people I’m following for more guys posting knife pics, everyday carry, outdoors, watches, pens, sunglasses, boots, clothes accessories, and other man stuff.
Here’s my Pinterest account here. And again, let me know if you’re posting EDC gear and you have followed me as I’ll follow you back.

Technically Youtube probably isn’t a social media platform, it’s a video sharing platform, but it’s close enough. I’ve only got one video online at the moment but I’ll add more as my skills develop. I don’t have a decent camera, lights, microphones, or any other gadgets to make proper videos. Not to mention my lack of video editing skills and zero on screen charisma. So my channel hasn’t got a lot of things going for it but I try, I learn quickly, and I’m keen to improve it over time.
For now I will focus on the detailed reviews on the Directness Blog here and just show a quick video of how the knife or gear functions in hand. As I gain more skills and confidence with video making I will probably make them more interesting.
So check me out on Youtube here. Like, share and comment and I’ll love you forever!

Not one of my favorite social media platforms but I’ll try to update it regularly. If I want my posts actually seen by my followers I have to pay for it, soooo, yeah, whatever. A lot of people use facebook though so I have created a page for Directness.com.
Here’s Directness EDC on Facebook.
EDC Gear and Knives on Social Media
Which social media accounts do you use most for your everyday carry gear fix? Have you run into any problems posting knives on them?
I’ve heard of Instagram censoring tags and of course Youtube has never been knife friendly. I suppose they’re their websites, they can do what they want with them, but they can be frustrating.
Let me know if you’re following any of my social media accounts and I will follow you back if you post a lot of EDC or outdoor gear pics or resources. Share it in the comments below and I’ll check it out.
